New Feature to support Status
WhatsApp is always at the top notch to wow users with their new features. Recently, WhatsApp rolled out a new feature to support audio status. In this feature, users can record a voice and apply it as a status on WhatsApp.
Earlier WhatsApp status was restricted only to sharing images, texts and videos.
Voice Status Feature
WhatsApp has rolled out voice status feature allowing users to update status with voice recordings for 24 hours.
Apparently, users can only share texts, GIFs, images and videos on their status. The status is visible just like Instagram and Facebook stories.
How to post an audio recording status on WhatsApp
To put your audio recording status in the Meta-owned app, you must first update the app to the latest version and then follow the steps mentioned below.
1. After opening the app, go to the Status Updates section. Here you have to tap on the pencil icon instead of the camera icon.
2. Further, long tap on the microphone icon visible on the screen.
3. Furthermore, to pause or stop recording, you need to slide left and right.
4. After the recording is complete, you will be able to listen to it by tapping on the play button, here you will also get the option to delete or share it.
5. Finally, by tapping on the ‘Submit’ button, you can share this recording as a status update.
Features of new recording status
Users will be able to change the background colour of this voice status recording by tapping on the share colour palette icon.
Apart from this, users are getting the option to share only audio of duration up to 30 seconds in a status. To share a longer recording, you’ll need to post multiple status updates.
Moreover, you’ll be able to control who can hear the updates you share in your status and which contacts they’ll be shown in your privacy settings.
WhatsApp has said that end-to-end encryption will be applicable for voice status updates just like the chats and calls. This encryption means that no third party app in between or even WhatsApp itself can access the content of voice status recordings other than users sharing and viewing the status.
However, in case of any objectionable status, users can report it and the platform will review it.
