Vivo to merge iQOO into its core business operations

Vivo could merge iQOO Into Its Main Business operations, Aims to Reduce Operating Costs

iQOO, a sub-brand of Vivo has been working independently on strategies, planning and sales. However, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is planning to merge business operations with iQOO due to cost cuttings and major layoffs in the company.

Reportedly, the merge is a one step forward to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

iQOO and Vivo Achievements

iQOO has achieved a remarkable point in the tech world. The smartphone has made its mark with quality additions in the mid-range and the premium segment.

Vivo has also evolved as a brand to focus on devices across all price ranges. It has even used Zeiss Optics to enhance its imaging tech, just like OnePlus with Hasselblad and Xiaomi with Leica have done in recent times.

Vivo has a different approach with its products compared to iQOO, as the company has delivered products that are selfie-focused, about design and other times compete with brands in the segment.

Vivo has also immersed in the foldable space, but there are no news yet of the product launch for the global market so far.

Merge Core business operations

iQOO is a sub-brand of Vivo and has been sharing multiple resources together. To exemplify, resources such as Research and Development, supply chain and media retention. However, they have operated independently in planning, media strategies and e-commerce areas.

As per reports, the Chinese publications 36 Krypton, Vivo is planning to merge iQoo’s branding and online business teams with its existing teams in order to reduce costs and increase efficiency.

The website has cited a source close to the company saying that Vivo’s senior management is planning to merge iQoo’s brand, media strategy, and other teams, which may eliminate iQoo’s independent stores or counters.

However, it is not clear yet whether the company will retain a separate business unit.

Meanwhile, Vivo has also joined hands with Xiaomi and Oppo to bring a new solution for seamless data transfers between their smartphones.

The new solution will allow users to share photos, and contacts as well as transfer third-party app data between Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo smartphones with ease.

The new development will also keep old chat records when switching phones. Currently, users can transfer data from Oppo and Vivo smartphones to a Xiaomi handset by using the Mi Switch.

Notably, third-party application data transfer is supported on Xiaomi handsets running on MIUI 4.0.0 and above.
