Delhi-Metro new ticket booking system introduced

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in collaboration with Meta has introduced a new ticket system. The Delhi Metro ticket system has introduced ticketing service through WhatsApp including all metro lines in the Delhi NCR area from October 5, 2023.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)

The DMRC has introduced the expansion of its WhatsApp based ticket service to all lines of Delhi NCR region including Gurugram Rapid Metro. However, the service was first launched on the airport express line in May.

“The DMRC has now extended this cutting-edge service to cover all lines in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR), including the Gurugram Rapid Metro in collaboration with Meta and their authorised partner Pelocal Fintech Pvt. Ltd.,” the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said in a statement.

According to the WhatsApp messaging app, the passengers can avail tickets in one go conveniently. As per the messaging app officials, users can simply send a message with the text ‘Hi’ to +91 9650855800 on WhatsApp. Similarly, users can also scan the provided QR code to effortlessly purchase metro tickets using their smartphones across the whole network.

How to use WhatsApp for Booking Delhi Metro Ticket?

Firstly, send a message with the text “Hi” to +91 9650855800. Alternatively, you can scan the provided QR code at any metro station.

Next, select your preferred language. Tap on the “Buy Ticket” button.

You will be redirected to the DMRC’s Pelocal portal where you can:

Enter your source and destination stations.

Select the number of tickets you need. Further, after completing all the steps, review your journey details and proceed with payment. Finally, after successful payment, you will receive a QR-based ticket on WhatsApp. However, you need to remember few points.

Points to remember

You can book up to a maximum of six QR tickets in a single transaction.

Further, tickets can be booked between 6 am to 9 pm for all lines and from 4 am to 11 pm for the Airport Line.

Furthermore, once the ticket has been booked, it cannot be cancelled through WhatsApp Ticketing.

Moreover, a marginal convenience fee will be applied to transactions made via credit/debit card, while no convenience fee will be charged for UPI-based transactions.
