CyberRoot Risk Advisory is an Indian firm that consists of 40 fake accounts. The company is primarily engaged in social engineering and phishing. The company intends people share their bank credentials and other personal information.

More to it, the company has been cracked down by Meta for allegedly operating fake accounts. The accounts were used to hack people’s phones, computers and social media accounts and emails.

Meta, a social media giant is globally active in communicating and connecting networks.

The tech giant has taken down an Indian firm for operating fake accounts. Moreover, for collecting people’s information in Myanmar, India, Taiwan, USA and China.

Meta also took down 900 fake accounts on social media platform like Facebook and Instagram. These accounts were being operated from China by an unknown quiddity.

According to company’s threat report, the company was focussed on collecting data of army persons, government officials, politicians and journalists.

Moreover, the CyberRoot used fake accounts to trick people across the globe, to fetch their personal data. Further, they created fictitious accounts to gain trust of the targeted people around the world.

Similarly, CyberRoot also created accounts that were very identical to accounts connected to their targets like their friends and family, with only slightly changed usernames, likely in an attempt to trick people into engaging, the report said.

In an official report from Meta, they found CyberRoot targeted people around the world involved in various industries, including cosmetic surgery and law firms in Australia, real estate and investment companies in Russia, private equity firms and pharmaceutical companies in the US, environmental and anti-corruption activists in Angola, gambling entities in the UK, and mining companies in New Zealand.

Furthermore, their focus was not limited to government officials but also lawyers, business tycoons, doctors, social activists and members of the clergy in countries like Saudi Arabia.

Meta concluded by saying that they will continue to investigate further and take essential actions against advocacy vendors across the world, including China, Russia, UK, Israel and India, and other territories.
