Two Key Social Media Platforms Now Launched On iOS

Two key Twitter alternatives, social media platforms have recently launched on iOS: Post and Spill.

Post

Post is a publisher-focused Twitter alternative that aims to reinvent how people obtain their news on social media platforms.

It was launched in beta just few days after Elon Musk took over Twitter as a CEO of the company.

Further, when using the app, users can toggle between three feeds: following, explore, and news.

Furthermore, a feed of new articles from Post’s publishing partners is displayed on the news tab.

Moreover, the partners include notable outlets like Reuters, the Los Angeles Times, Wired, Yahoo Finance, Fortune, Insider, NBC News and more.

What’s More

Headlines and the beginning of the articles are free to view but users must make a micro-transaction with “points” to read the rest of the article within the Post app.

In addition, publishers currently receive 100 percent of their earnings from these micropayments.

However, it is expected to probably change whenever Post needs to make a profit on its own.

“Premium publishers are seeing an average of $30 CPM equivalents for paid content and an average of $1.3 CPM equivalent from tips for free content,” the company said in a press release.

In eight months since launch, more than 440,000 users have joined Post.

Right now, the platform is funded by Andreessen Horowitz and Scott Galloway, an author and marketing professor at New York University.

Spill

Spill is a new social platform created by former Twitter employees Alphonzo “Phonz” Terrell and DeVaris Brown. The platform is designed to cater to “culture drivers,” especially Black and queer creators.

The founders bonded over being Black employees while working at Twitter and wanted to create a space to highlight the cultural contributions and influential content creation Black users frequently brought to the app.

The Spill app, named for the phrase “spill the tea,” will use block chain to compensate users for popular posts and will include a feature called “tea parties” where users can gather online or in real life to connect.

Spill is a multimedia, visually-focused microblogging service with a Tumblr-like interface. When users open the application, they will see a feed showing recent posts from people they are following. Moreover, they will see algorithmically served posts.

Launched on iOS

While, Post launched its application on iOS, Spill has launched an invite-only beta on the App Store.

Spill is a social platform which is created by a team of ex twitter employees.
